What to expect

Your first visit

The company is open to all qualified performers through audition. Young dancers who join must meet strict requirements for class attendance and rehearsals, and are expected to commit seriously to their training with the support of their families. The discipline of classical ballet is used to help build well-rounded, disciplined young people who learn to manage their time across home, school, and dance. Prospective members should review the season audition forms available on the website.

Studio history

Ann Brodie's Carolina Ballet was founded in 1988 by South Carolina dance legend Ann Brodie, the same year her Columbia City Ballet became a professional company — a shift that left a community void this new civic company filled. Brodie established it together with John Whitehead, Adolfina Suarez-More, Donna Lewis, Anita Ashley, Mimi Worrell, and Mimi Wortham-Brown, with a Junior Company as a core component of the program.
