The Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy is the official school of Ballet West and one of America's premier sources of classical ballet and performing-arts training, operating campuses in Salt Lake City, Park City, and Utah County. The Academy is dedicated to developing and inspiring the whole child—both as an accomplished artist and a healthy individual—on professional and recreational tracks.
Training is organized into a Beginning & Elementary Division for the youngest dancers (ages 3–9), a Student Division (Ballet Levels 1–8, ages 9 and up), and a Professional Training Division for serious students ages 14 and up. The Academy also offers adult classes and seminars and a nationally recognized summer intensive program.
What to expect
Your first visit
Beginning & Elementary classes are placed by age. Placement into Student Division levels requires an audition for new students, with advancement determined by class observation and exam classes; students typically spend more than one year per level and perform in Winter, Spring, and Contemporary Showcases. The Professional Training Division is by audition or invitation only. Adult ballet and tap classes are open to the public ages 13 and up at all locations; newcomers are encouraged to start with the Starter Series (call 801-869-6912 for details).
