About this studio
Querido Tango Bilbao is an Argentine Tango school in the Basque Country, run by dancers and teachers Borja Alkalde Sainz and Christina Gomez, who have taught tango for 15 years. They operate two schools in Bizkaia: Escuela de Baile Querido Tango Urduliz in Uribe Kosta, and Escuela Querido Tango Bilbao in the Deusto district. They are among the few Argentine Tango instructors in the Basque Country with international experience, having taught at festivals and events across Europe.
The school presents itself as more than a place to learn and dance Argentine Tango — it describes itself as a sincere, kind, and welcoming community. Beyond tango, the Urduliz location also offers Zumba Fit and Salsa & Bachata classes, and the directors work as choreographers, creating custom wedding dances (tango, salsa/bachata, or a mix of rhythms) through a pack of five lessons.
The school runs weekly tango classes in Bilbao, milongas on Fridays and Saturdays, and organizes major events including the Bilbao Tango Festival & Cup (around 500 attendees at the Palacio Oriol in Santurtzi each February) and a Bilbao Tango Marathon each September.

Your first visit
Newcomers are invited to come try a class ("Ven a probar clases"). The school emphasizes a friendly, welcoming community atmosphere alongside serious instruction. Weekly Friday gatherings in Deusto are an informal "practilonga" — dinner together followed by practice with fellow tango dancers — while Saturday afternoons host a more traditional milonga, sometimes with invited musicians and dancers. All are welcome.
Studio history
Founded and directed by Borja Alkalde Sainz and Christina Gomez, who have taught Argentine Tango for 15 years. In 2019 they placed as runners-up in the stage tango category at the European Championship in Munster, Germany, and 4th at the European Championship in London.
