About this studio
The Louisville Country Dancers are a multi-generational community built on the enjoyment of American Contra dance and folk music. Dancers of all ages and skill levels gather to move, hear great music, and meet new people.
No experience and no partner are necessary, making it an approachable, welcoming space for newcomers and seasoned dancers alike. Live music is featured at every dance, with The Monday Night All-Stars serving as the resident open band on Monday nights.
What to expect
Your first visit
First-time contra dancing is always free. Free beginner lessons start promptly at 7:30pm before each Monday night dance, and teaching continues throughout the entire night. No experience or partner is required. After the first free visit, admission runs on a sliding scale of $5-25 (pay what you can), with suggested pricing of $10 for Mondays and $15 for Saturdays and special dances. Admission is free for dancers under 13 and over 74, so families are welcome.
