Tango Bar Roma

Tango Bar, also known as the Centro del Tango Argentino, is the oldest Argentine tango school in Italy, founded in 1990 by tango pioneers Eliana Montanari and Ali Namazi. Located in the heart of Rome's Pigneto district (Via Macerata 9), it was the first venue in Italy dedicated entirely to Argentine tango and the country's first permanent tango school, where thousands of students have trained and many teachers and dancers have been formed.

Now managed by Laura Amadei, the studio positions itself not only as a center for teaching and practicing tango but increasingly as an artistic and cultural hub open to the city's diverse communities. It is known for its special, long-standing milonga and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere where people of all ages, singles and couples alike, come to dance and connect.

The first lesson is always free, available at any time and for any level, even after courses have started, with instructors then suggesting the best path for each newcomer. There is no need to attend as a couple, since the school balances partners so everyone can take part, though couples are welcome and partner rotation is encouraged for learning. Courses run one 75-minute lesson per week (55 euro monthly / 100 euro bi-monthly), with discounts for Under-35s and for students taking more than one course.
