About this studio
Velho Pietro Centro Latino is located in a charming 1928 building in the Bixiga neighborhood of São Paulo, a historically and culturally significant area. The venue features two dance floors with different musical proposals, two mezzanines, air conditioning, a cloakroom, an outdoor smoking area, and a varied menu of appetizers and drinks.
The studio is named after Antonio Pietroforte (Velho Pietro), born in 1940, a son of Italian immigrants who became a living encyclopedia of Latin popular dance styles and techniques. He pioneered introducing Tango techniques to Brazil with an emphasis on teaching dance for real-world ballroom experience rather than just steps and choreography. Every Saturday night, Velho Pietro honors guests with a Tango Porteño presentation alongside his long-time partner Marleni Dianni.
