HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE: the most-extensive single mid-18c Parisian Cotillon-into-Contredanse-Francaise serial publication, spanning 17 numbered Recueils and demonstrating the vocabulary stabilisation of the 'salon-French Contredanse' form on the eve of its Cellarius-era 19c codification. Predates Landrin's larger 1768 Potpourri Francois (LOC-1760-LANDRIN, Cousineau Pere imprint) and is contemporary with the LOC-1768-LONGMAN London Cotillons and the LOC-1769-GUILLAUME Almanach Dansant Allemandes / Contredanses. Documents the late-1750s / early-1760s Parisian transition from Cotillon (8-couple square format) to Contredanse Francoise (4-couple square format with named figure progressions) at the cusp of the late-Louis-XV ballroom revolution.
