Single Wheelchair Dance
Also known as: Single dance, Solo wheelchair dance
History & Cultural Context
Single dance is the solo Para DanceSport format: one wheelchair-using athlete performs the International Standard or Latin dances without a partner, judged on chair control, musicality, shaping, and expression. It lets athletes compete and develop technique independently of partner availability and rounds out the sport's three formats with combi and duo. As in all Para DanceSport, the dancing draws on the same ballroom and Latin vocabulary as the able-bodied sport.
